Most patio covers in Sacramento need a permit. Small, detached structures may fall under what’s exempted, but any cover that connects to your home, has a solid roof, or is larger than about 120 square feet usually needs approval.
The city reviews size, design, and safety details before work starts. You can also check Sacramento’s site for their guidelines on residential accessory structures. If you book a patio cover job with us, we’ll also check these rules for you at the start of the project.

Yes. A covered patio creates a clear outdoor space that buyers look for. Real estate reports show that outdoor upgrades can raise resale appeal and help homes stand out in similar markets. A patio cover also protects furniture and reduces heat in the area, which many homeowners consider practical.
-
Yes, most concrete patios or existing bases are strong enough for a new cover. However, to ensure that everything is intact, we’ll look at the condition of the slab, the layout, and where the supports will go.
If everything is in good shape, we can add a LifeRoom patio cover without making big changes to what you already have.

Aluminum is the most durable choice for standard patio covers. It resists rust, peeling, and warping, even in heat or moisture. Tests show that good-quality aluminum keeps its shape and color for years with very little maintenance.
Aluminum also stays strong in both sun and rain, needs very little care, and offers a wide variety of design choices. Many homeowners pick aluminum because it keeps its appearance without needing regular treatment or repairs.
